Marketing guidelines

  • Only titles that are selected for publication to Prime Video may be marketed using Amazon Marks.
  • All press releases and media pitches mentioning Amazon must be submitted to PVD-PR@amazon.com.
  • Follow all trademark guidelines and the Prime Video Logos & Usage Guide when using Amazon trademarks.

All press releases, social media posts, or promotions that mention Amazon or use the Amazon logo must be submitted to PVD-PR@amazon.com for approval before release. Submissions must include a screenshot of the Marketing Requirement Checklist (see below). Please allow 10 business days for review.

If you're distributing titles on behalf of a third party, you should make sure that the third party also adheres to all title promotion requirements (Social Media Guidelines, Press Release Guidelines, and the Prime Video Logos & Usage Guide).

The following checklist provides a summary of the best practices/prohibited marketing guidelines. Complete this checklist and include a screenshot in your submission to PVD-PR@amazon.com prior to publishing any ads or social media post. See Press Releases for more information.

  • My title has already been selected for publication. You can't promote your title or announce its availability on Prime Video until it has been selected for publication.
  • I will only promote my title using digital mediums. You're only authorized to promote availability of your title on Prime Video using digital mediums (e.g., social media or websites). Printed advertisements (like billboards) are prohibited.
  • I will follow all applicable guidelines while promoting my title. You must follow all Social Media Guidelines, PR Guidelines, and the Prime Video Logos & Usage Guide when promoting my title.

Marketing requirements

The following guide provides helpful tips and suggestions for the promotion of your title to effectively drive engagement and success for your content on Prime Video Direct, Amazon’s self-publishing service.

  • Submit all PR drafts to our PR/Marketing team. All press releases, social media posts, or promotions that mention Amazon or use the Amazon logo must be submitted to PVD-PR@amazon.com for approval before release. Submissions must include a screenshot of the Marketing criteria checklist. Please allow 10 business days for review.
  • Only promote titles that are approved/selected for publication. Only titles that have already been selected for publication to Prime Video may be marketed available on Amazon or using Amazon Marks. You may only promote the availability of your title on Prime Video. Any other express or implied association between Amazon and you or your title will lead to immediate removal of your content.
  • Follow all applicable guidelines. Follow all Social Media Guidelines, PR Guidelines, and the Prime Video Logos & Usage Guide when using Amazon marks or referencing the Amazon brand.
  • Only engage in digital marketing. Prime Video branding and Amazon Marks are permitted only for digital marketing on social media and web, and only to promote the availability of your title on the service. Printed advertisements are prohibited.

Brand usage

After successfully publishing through Prime Video Direct, your title will be available in Prime Video through your selected offer types. Remember, Prime Video Direct is the distribution service you use to get your videos onto Prime Video.

Promotion on social media and on your website are effective ways to drive engagement and increase exposure to your content. We encourage you to engage with your preexisting audience and notify them of your title’s availability on Prime Video. Refer to the Prime Video Logos & Usage Guide for logo- and brand-usage requirements.

 

Best practices

  • Drive traffic directly to your page via retrieving the ASIN and posting the URL in your marketing campaigns.
  • Create and maintain an IMDb profile for your titles. Sign into your IMDb account and at the bottom of the title’s IMDb page, click Edit page. Additional instructions are available to create an IMDb page.
  • Follow the Prime Video Logos & Usage Guide when using Amazon trademarks.
  • Leverage your network — encourage your audience to review the film. Amazon reviews are a great way for potential viewers to learn more about your title.

Prohibited

  • Use Amazon trademarks for self-promotion outside of social media and your websites. (Printed advertisements are prohibited.)
  • Use Amazon trademarks as verbs (e.g., "Just Prime it") or as a pun (e.g. Fire up your content selection with Prime Video).
  • Use Amazon trademarks in possessive or plural (e.g., "Fire TV’s capabilities"; instead, use "Capabilities of Fire TV").
  • Position third-party logos directly alongside Amazon logos or trademarks unless explicitly authorized by Amazon.
  • Refer to Prime Video Direct as the destination to view your content. Remember, Prime Video Direct is the business-facing distribution service and is not a viewing destination.

Your use of the Amazon brand, logos, and trademarks ("Amazon Marks") is subject to the restrictions set out in this guide, the Amazon Trademarks Guidelines, your Digital Video License Agreement, and any other terms, conditions, or policies that Amazon may issue from time to time that apply to the use of the Amazon Marks (together the "Guidelines").

Strict compliance with the Guidelines is required at all times, and any use of an Amazon Mark in violation of the Guidelines will automatically terminate any license related to your use of the Amazon Marks and may result in removal of your title, forfeiture of license fees, and termination of your account. Amazon reserves the right, exercisable at its sole discretion, to modify the Guidelines and/or the approved Amazon Marks at any time.
